At the opening speech, NOIP’s Deputy Director General Pham Phi Anh emphasized on the role of intellectual property (IP) in the economic growth in general and in business activities in particular. Dr. Pham recommended Vietnamese SMEs to make use of its available intellectual resources to enhance its competitiveness and international economic integration.

During the two-day workshop, speakers from WIPO,KIPO and India introduced their policies and services to SMEs; shared experiences of their SMEs in using intellectual property assets to enhance competitiveness and development. On Vietnam side, the representative of NOIP gave a presentation on its IP policies and services for SMEs, especially focused on the National Program of Supporting Development of Enterprises’ IP Assets which was implemented in accordance with the Decision No. 68/2005/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.

The Workshop was followed by intensive consultations to 6 Vietnamese SMEs on management, utilization and exploitation of IP assets in their businesses, and a study-visit for Vietnamese SMEs to Korea.
